I like it!
The sight system really intrigues me.
I know Ned has a Defender which he has running without any problems so it can be done... I know it isnt easy but 1911's this size can be made to run.

Does anyone know if it is series 70 or 80? (Series 80 I found out. blah)

What do you guys think about it?

Is it just a Colt Mustang with a new name or what is the difference?

M1911forums has pics and all on their site.

I am sure some will be here soon enough as well.

saw the picture on 1911forum. Nice but nothing to jump up and down about.
I personally think that the sight channel is silly and having a low profile sight would make more sense

Colt has already made a Defender with low-profile sights, and they've made a Defender with Novak-style sights, and they've even made one with a Commander-length frame. Now, they're making one without sights. Sounds like they are trying to please as many people as possible.

Glad someone like's it cause IMO Colt missed the boat on this one! I guess I have to give them credit for trying but it was kind of a let down for me.

Or, maybe P.O. as many people as possible. I saw it at the show and the sight channel is ridiculous. As I held up the pistol, the Colt rep said, "No, you don't sight it. You just shoot it. It's for combat and you don't need sights." The freakin' thing did not even have a beaver-tail. Just a standard long GS. I did like the "Browning cut" on the front of the slide. But, that's it.

Words fail me. All I can come up with are completely out of touch and totally clueless, but even these fall far short of the mark.

Sad. Tragic. Disappointing. They can't even seem to get the easy things right.

I saw it, didn't do anything for me. Kimber beat Colt by a couple of years on the 3" sightless 1911 and better executed all around. The question is, does it work reliably?

Seems they are making an attempt to break into a niche market that has plenty of other options that I would assume are cheaper. I think it has potential though and I bet with a little TLC it would run alright. If it were only about 400 bucks it would be cool to work it over for a play gun. Maybe drill the front for a buried gold bead, flush hammer, flat short trigger, round butt, whack the mockery of a grip safety off and round the tangs.....hmmm anybody got one for sale?

I would love someone to take a Gunsite, Thunder Ranch, Farnam or Hackathorn class with a "sightless" wonder like this joke and report back on its shootability for "combat".

When I first saw the Rohrbaugh 9mm prototype it was sightless. I asked the engineer why they bothered building a precise, accurate pistol if they weren't installing sights?

He said, in a gunfight, no one uses their sights!

I asked him if he had ever heard of Jim Cirillo. He said:
"Who?"

The gun came to market with a sight option..

it looks like a cheeky parts gun, the beavertail would be hilarious if it wasn't for real. I like the browning cut on the slide, but would it have killed them to line it up with the dustcover ? How "snagproof" does a 1911 have to be to not have low profile sights ? If it's for close-up point shooting under high stress, why a thumb safety that's hardly even a nub ? I know guns have to be functional tools, but that doesn't mean it has to have a face like a well slapped arse...metaphorically speaking
