This is a full house custom built by John Hobbs of Phoenix. Base gun is a new Series 70. John also made the grips from scratch. Sorry there aren't better pics I'm an amatuer when it comes to photos.

Looks nice, what all did he do to it? Also, what style Heinie's are those?

Probably going to be even more in the future, especially with some Illinois legislation that really threatens any kind of firearms-related industry there.

Those serrations at the rear of the slide are so perfect-- that is one of my least favorite jobs, one that I find difficult to do.

Mr. Heinie, ever since I heard the Chinese were making knockoff riflescopes with the Leupold logo on them, whenever I see one of your sights I double check the spelling of your name!

Very nice blaster. It's refreshing to see the original Heinie sight.
How does it shoot?

Nice pistol, there sure is ALOT of great work coming out of AZ these days. I have always liked the original Heinie rear sights, they have a really nice, clean sight picture very Bo-mar like. I am guessing that was the idea?

Ned, you know I'm throw out an invite to ALL those Illinois gun nuts to move on out to good old gun & tax friendly Wyoming!! Would love to see Rock River, Heinie, Springfield, or any of them out here! They can move in right down the road from A-square, and Glenrock Blue!

Better than a Bo-Mar; it's the depth of the notch that sets them apart.

Mark,
If I was 20 years younger, I would have my stuff in Wyoming. I love it there.

Rick,
Keep watch on my web site, because we have some new stuff coming that will make things better yet.
We should have everything ready by Dec. 1. Photos are being done now.

What's the real estate market like out there in Wyoming? I'm an Illinois resident, and I'm very much going to move from Illinois when I'm finished with school.

What part of Wyoming would you reccomend?

Rick, you're 110% right on that!!

Richard- Feel free to come on out to visit anytime, I'll be happy point you in the right direction/ show you around. Can't wait to see the new stuff.

Bob- Housing market in Casper is crazy right now, but other parts of the state are not too bad. (PM me if you want a phone #, I'd be happy to help any way I can.) What part of the state...humm, if the pistol biz is your focus, Glenrock is really nice, I really like central WY. Great hunting/ fishing, bit windy from time to time, but not TOO bad. A couple hour (or less) drive to do ANYTHING I want to do. Most parts of the state have thier pluses, just STAY OUT of Rock Springs, Gillette, and Rawlins!!! I'd be happy to show you around as well, come out and visit. I may try to get in touch with you and Richard this winter... I'll be in Illinois spring of 08, got family to see, in the Freeport/ Rockford area. Besides I gotta go a little north see my buddy Ned! :D

Coffee pot is always on, drop by
Mark

I usually don't post here, preferring to observe the amazing work of the gifted pistolsmiths here. So, please pardon my widely divergent thoughts.

First, thanks for the compliments. For others to say nice things about my work is truly enjoyable. Getting a compliment from the someone like Ned Christiansen, who I feel is a phenom, is indescribable.

Frost, you're embarassing me by posting this, but it is your pistol. Chuck Rogers knows how I feel about this, but it's going to be a long time, if ever, before I can begin to approach the talent on this site. There talent level here is freaky, and truly inspirational! Regardless, I hope you enjoy it for many years. Put those beautiful buckeye burl grips back on though, as they are MUCH nicer than mine.

I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to chat with you yesterday. I'm finding that work is making me more of a politician than a cop. I'm in too many meetings, and I rarely remember anything past 5 minutes. Let me know how the gun shoots for you. I never shot it after it was blued. If we don't talk before you return to the sandbox, BE CAREFUL!

Mr. Heinie, I have to tell you I'm elated that I just found the original 1911 rear sight, sans tritium, on your website. I thought you stopped making it, and it's my favorite sight of all time.

For those who asked how it shoots, I don't think Frost shot it yet. I can tell you it's boring. It goes bang every time, and puts the rounds in the same spot. I wish I could say it was me, but it's the components. Other than troubles with the slide to frame fit that Mr. Yost gave me valuable advice with, all went together without a hitch, and made for a truly pleasing gun. It's nice to have an owner that buys quality components.

One last thing, I'm glad you Heirloom guys decided to stick around. Expect a visit soon.

John you are much to modest. This is a beautiful gun with work that can stand up to any smith that posts here. I wish I could remember all the components used and the exact "build" sheet on this, but I can't. Maybe you can fill everyone in.

Now, I hope John doesn't mind, but I'm gonna tell you what this gun cost:

Base gun: $800
Parts: $600 from brownells, LEO pricing
Labor: $0

John built me this out of the kindness of his heart and because we call each other friend. John's a full time cop and does this for fun and the experience of doing it. When he retires from the force his talents will really be in demand (not that that aren't now, Travis from Simply Dynamic has been asking about you). For those of you who don't know John he's one of the most humble, down to earth, and all around great guys I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and becoming friends with.

Anyways, John you're top notch and this gun belongs on this site. Now give me a call, no excuses your meeting ended yesterday!

Great looking gat!! Love the lines and workmanship! Those grips are really nice, perfect layout with the wood and angles of the mineral streaks. Congrats to the builder and owner!! Lotta work went into that one!
