As most of you already know over the last month or so some changes took place at the Yo-Bo shop resulting in the “new” venture, Heirloom Precision, LLC., between Ted Yost, Steve Bailey, and myself. Well not really “new” as we three have been working together for some time now, but “new” from the standpoint of having a revived focus in the work we do and passion we do it with.

The shop location, business plan, and everyday happenings really aren’t any different for us, but with a new company being born the three of us thought it was probably time for a bit of renovation to the shop and our general work area. As Ted likes to say, we’ve spent the last few year so busy chopping wood that we never stopped to sharpen our axe.

So with some rearranging in the shop area and a reclamation of a good bit of square footage the three of us set forth to put the shop in order and create our own little fortress of solitude. And what better way to set it off than to post some pictures of the renovated area. Those of you who have been to the shop will doubtless see a huge change and those who have yet to see the shop in person will hopefully enjoy the pictures as a window into our madness... enjoy! :D

New and roomier benches...

... and we thought a brand-spankin’ new mill was in order... so we got a BIG one... :D

... etching, stippling... and occasionally we makes some bullets so I can get the guns dirty...

I didn't see a blow torch, 12lb sledge, nor a 36" pipe wrench....

How do you guys expect to get any work out without those?

Thanks, it's nice to see where they come from.
I did sorta expect to see dark walnut paneling, a big fireplace, elephant tusks in the corner, and shelves of leather-bound books.
But that's nice too.

Very impressive.

I guess it didn't occur to Jason to post pics of the office.

That is the Fortress of Solitude...The office is in transition but will eventually be extremely cool. What Jason didn't get a picture of was all the elves. They were sleeping and we did not want to wake them. Chasing those little bastards around at the end of the day is exhausting. That is what we use Gunner for (shop dog).

This really has been a joy and I couldn't have asked for a better pair of business partners. They could of, but I am very happy. 8)

Jason has a little nickname at the shop. If you ask me at the Shot Show I will tell you. but it will cost you a beer.

Is it safe to assume the chair with the booster is Jason's?

Very nice shop guys. And if anyone wonders where there is some expense in custom work I cannot imagine the cost of the tools.

Great to be one of the in line.

Yes, I was thinking that the next time I hear some joker saying "Well, I don't see why I can't just do ______ myself instead of paying a fancy gunsmith to do it"...I'd wish they could see those pictures. They usually can't understand their lack of skills, but maybe they can understand their lack of tools.

It's kinda funny, everyone notices the nice toolboxes, very few realize that there's a BMW in that walnut Gerstner

I've been buying these tools for twenty five years now - woodworking, metalworking...you name it. Over 70 different chamberings, checkering and stockmaking tools, three kinds of choke tooling, even a nifty hydraulic dent pusher for taking the pain out of using English double guns - but I use that rack of files more than any of them.

Nice Webb mill, I haven't seen many of those in that good condition, with the powerfeed and the DRO you have on it, it must be a joy to work with. I have a personal request regarding this post (if you don't mind). Would you post some pics of any machining jigs you use for your 1911 work. I've found recently that I am going to have to make a few to complete the work on my personal pistol, and I would love to see what the pros come up with. Thanks for the great post, love to see a shop that clean and organized, shows a high level of professionalism.

Congrats, guys. Looks like a comfortable place to continue to perfect your art.

Life sure is easier when you have the right layout.

Also, I wouldn't feel comfortable in a shop that didn't have at least one Folger's can sitting on a turkey cooker.
