Hello all, I bought a Series 70 Gov. Mdl. today at auction. It has a Hard Crome frame and blued slide. Bomar rear and soldered in serrated ramp in the front. Fluted ejection port with a BarSto barrel hand marked 12 79 on the left side of the feet.Swenson ambi safety and Videki trigger. Commander hammer, Pachmayer grips and mainspring housing. Rear of slide is serrated and magwell is beveled. Recoil guide is spring loaded two piece assy. with a shok buff. The under side of the slide is marked " No 16 " WILSON. Any help would be great, Thanks!

I'll try to get some pics up soon....

I am no expert but with it saying Wilson I would think it was Bill Wilson currently Wilson tactical. He used to build guns himself before he went big time and started with Mass production. Depending on what you paid it looks good and was a good find.

Pretty sure your right about Bill Wilson being the builder. The "No 16" is the part that really makes me curious, extractor is marked the same. It has been used a bit and well taken care of. Plenty tight lock up and nice trigger pull. Price was less that what a new factory Colt would bring.

Eagle....that looks just like my "mystery Officer's Model" that was also supposedly built by Wilson back when he did individual work, but alas..I cannot get a positive ID on mine! Give Wilson's a call or an e-mail with the serial number, the folks there did quite a bit of research on my pistol for me, and were very knid during the process. In my case there were no markings that would help identify it, and according to them their computerized records only go back a few years..before that and any IDs are hit and miss, but with the "No. 16" marking and Wilson markings I think it would be worth contacting them. If they can positively ID yours I would request a letter of provenance from them on it....best wishes--John

Looks like an early Wilson gun. Email the pics to Wilson Combat, I am sure Bill or Ryan could ID it.

I agree with B&B, it's the pattern of what he did a lot of back in the day. All the early Wilson Combat guns that I've ever seen were stamped "WILSON COMBAT" near the serial number, but the earliest one that I can put hands on was an '83 build. He may have stamped WILSON on the disconnector rail before then.

It would be a value-added item to know it really came from Wilson and I'd offer to pay a reasonable research fee when I called them, if it were me.

I have a 1985 Wilson Gun Shop, Inc. The gun in the picture look almost like the No. 130 Master Grade Combat Pistol except for the grip safety. The 130 had a beavertail.

Here is the list of work on the 130:

Bomar Lo-Mount Sights
Swenson Ambi Combat Safety
Trigger job with NM adj. trigger (long or short)
Commander style hammer
Fitted beavertail grip safety
Tighten slide to frame fit
Wilson match quality stainless barrel and bushing set
Rear of slide serrated (40LPI)
Lower and fair back ejection port
Funnel magazine well
Polish feed ramp and throat barrel
Polish and adjust extractor
HD recoil spring and SHOK BUFF
Pachmayr GM-45C combat grip
Pachmayr mainspring housing "B" or "C"
Metaloy finish on frame
Two extra stainless magazines with pads

Designed for the experienced practical pistol shooter and as a dual purpose competition/duty gun for the serious shooter. Features complete reliability, improved handling, increased recoil control, match grade accuracy, increased wearability and fine cosmetics. Suitable for ambidextrous use.

Price (1985 dollar) = $735! plus gun

What a deal !

Thanks everyone for the help. I'll be taking some better pictures and e-mailing them to Wilson's. I'll post them here as well.
Serial number puts it as a 1980. Would it safe to say the 12 79 on the BARSTO barrel would mean December 1979?

Yes - I had one with "1 77" - called Barsto and was told that was date code for Jan 1977.
