A set of match .45's built on Les Baer frames and slides. One is set up for NRA bullseye matches, the other CMP "Ball" matches. Both are identical with a few exceptions. Kart NM barresl provide tack driving accuracy at fifty yards. Both are fit with EGW bushings and FLGR's. The hammers are Harrison Design, short spurs. EGW grip safeties. Colt thumb safeties. The wadcutter is equiped with an Al Marvel scope mount and UltraDot scope. The "hardball" gun has a smooth flat top and Kensight rear with custom front sight. The wadcutter is fitted with a RoCo match grip. Both are mirror finished blue slides and brushed hard chrome frames with polished accents.

Very good lookin' pair, Greg.

Bullseye is not my thing but I've done it. I've always thought this, you tell me, do you think true or false....?

Any decent Gov't Model with a properly fitted, quality aftermarket barrel and a good trigger job, and, given good sights, will be more accurate than a factory Gold Cup.

You other guys more familiar with Gold Cups and Bullseye please comment.

It's just that I have never been impressed with the Gold Cup and I wonder sometimes if I am wrong about that. I don't mess with them enough to really know as I think they are a poor choice for a carry gun-- realizing that's not what they were made for, same as an Officers ACP is not made for Camp Perry.

Ned you are correct. The Gold Cup was more name than substance. The previous model the "National Match" was the tack driver, it was made with select parts and had some hand fitting by smiths at Colt. They just got too expensive to produce. They ran about $100 more than a Government Model, that was in the sixties- a week or more wages back then. The Gold Cup had/has similar features but was not very tight. The name "Gold Cup" stirs the loins on many, but few are shot in a bullseye match today. Quality has gone up at Colt as more CNC machines come on line and tooling improves. Today most bullseye shooters go straight for the custom gun built specifically for their needs. Les Baer is the only one offering a production gun which suits the bullseye shooter.
