I have a cross between the 1* and the Retro package, and it got me thinking. In B.B (Before Beavertail) days, I recall having Commander hammers combined with Govt. grip safeties scoped out to clear the hammer. Have you guys seen or done much of this ? I can see it being an option on the 1* package, without the expense and work of fitting a beavertail.
Just a thought. :D

Of course, I always liked the mnimalist look of Jim Hoag's beavertails too...

It's still done from time to time, as customer's request a Commander hammer mated to a Colt grip safety. Here's a couple of pics of one that I did not too long ago.

Wow. I have never heard of nor sean anything like that. I kind of wish I hadn't. Once the guys at Ted and Lew's shop get my pistol they may be getting a weekly call to add things like this to the to do list.

Hello-

Great looking pistols there as usual. Pardon me for asking, but who sells a Commander hammer like those with the beveled hole as seen in Mr. Harrison work? I really need one to complete my late 70's custom goverment in nice shiny stainless steel. Thanks for the help you guys and I really like the old school hammer look if you hadn't noticed already!

King's Gun Works in Glendale CA sells that hammer in either blue or stainless.
