I'm looking for a gun fannypack for hiking and backpacking for a full size Glock 20. Never owned one before.

First, which is your favorite gun pack, no limitations.

Second, which is your favorite that doesn't "scream" gun fannypack (colored or different look or shape, ect.).

Any of them float?

To be quite honest, I've been hoping to use my wife's purse for a fanny pack, but I don't think she's going to let me have it. She uses a Maxpedition Fat Boy Versipack as a purse. It is very cool indeed.

To be honest, any pack big enough to carry a full-size Glock is going to scream "GUN!" to anyone with half a brain.

The Galco pack, for more appropraite sized guns is pretty good. Get a patch from almost anyone non-gun related - L.L. Bean, the Boy Scouts, REI - and attach to the front.

I think your choice is either to use a different gun, or pick a different mode of carry.

Just my .02.

The Bianchi Top Secret works pretty well, and while the savvy will know you're packing that
big boy, the sheep shouldn't.

Just so you guys are aware of the mindset, from a police officer's (and not a holstermaker's) perspective, any time I see someone - anyone - wearing a fanny-pack, I immediately think "gun" and scrutinize that person a bit more closely than I normally would. This goes for whether I am on-duty or off-duty. I discussed this with numerous other officers and we're all pretty much on the same page on this. It draws attention to you and advertises that you're carrying, whether you are or not.

My advice if you're buying a fanny-pack - get one that does NOT have a quick release buckle system. Some of them are equipped with a plastic fastex buckle with only a pinch release locking device. It is very easy for some thug to sneak up on you, grab the buckle and release and remove your fanny pack; disarming you if you're armed, taking any other valuables you are carrying if you are not. Make sure there are two releases, or a hidden release that secures and unbuckles it.

I use a Galco fanny pack for when I mountain bike. It securely holds the gun, it also has a small amount of padding between the gun and my side. I realize it screams "gun" but can't think of a better way to secure a gun when moving about on a bike. I works quite well.
