I’m personally a huge fan of the 38 Super. It has fantastic accuracy potential, feeds well in the 1911 platform, and is a joy to shoot in extended practice sessions.

And so it was a pleasure building this pistol on a NRM Colt Gov’t. Model in 38 Super. The idea was to build a totally practical pistol that subtly makes a statement, yet is not too far over the top. The YoBo boys did the bluing and Chris Marona the pics.

All machine work was done in house. Many thanks for looking, hope ya like it!

Image

Fluted slide. Ramped Kart barrel fluted over chamber area. Lowered and flaired ejection port. Beveled slide bottom. French borders.

Image

Custom front slide radius. Flush cut barrel crown.

Image

Flat topped slide and bordered arrowhead serrations at 40 lpi. Low mounted, dehorned Heinie sights. Another view of the fluted slide.

Image

Tapered ‘tear drop’ flutes cut on a straight profile barrel.

Image

High cut and ‘Golfballed’ frontstrap and MS housing. Done in house, with permission from concept inventor, the one and only Chuck Rogers.

Image

Image

Mag well bevel was cut as far as possible into the MS housing. Note the absence of the vertical knife edge (at the back of the mag well) common to this type of modification; here we have just a smooth, continuous ramp into the well.

Image

Image

Contoured, reshaped and blended safeties.

Image

In a different light... Radical muzzle crown gives this Super a 'big bore' effect. Countersunk/flush cut slidestop hole/pin.

Image

A quick note....This pistol features a rather unique method of slide to frame fit. It has true, square, optimal bearing surfaces (and other special design features), yielding a tight, smooth, extremely long lasting fit with total reliability. Details forthcoming when my website launches.

Thanks again for looking!

Holy Crap Batman  That's gorgeous! Just when I think I know how I want my gun done I see something new. I may need 3 or 4 guns done to cover all my "wants".

I just want to say thanks again to you guys for this website. Most of us would probably never get to see some of this outstanding craftsmanship without the website.

...might was well lock this thread since Chuck pretty much said it all, and I doubt anybody could provide a higher compliment.

But......I just had to add my comments of admiration. I was able to fondle this amazing pistol at Shot and the pictures only tell part of the story. This pistol is a superb example of a gifted machinist and artisan showcasing his talents.

Well done,

Brian

Getting to see pistols like this is the reason I try to make sure I visit this sight EVERY day. I'm afraid I'd miss out if I didn't. :)

That's a beauty. Thanks for sharing.

Stan,

I'm with Chuck. I was looking at that and trying to find the words. I simply could not. That is an AMAZING gun. From the caliber choice to the details... just plain BAD A$$. Wow! You have been blessed with some serious metalworking skills, and you use that gift well.

That pistol is incredible!!!

Boys, I'm going to have make a LTW Forum first, and officially call DIBS once Stan opens his list to the public.

Gents, Of all the 50 or so guns that LTW had at SHOT, this gun got more "can I see that?" requests than any other, including LTW 1. Stan did a superlative job here, and I know he got at least one (and possibly more) offers to buy it. Excellent job Stan!! :D

Wow....

As other posters have said; stunning.

I love the fluting on the slide, especially. Wow.

(And I, unlike some other posters, think I'm glad that Stan doesn't
have his list open to the public; I'm building up a collection of custom
guns wants and by bank balance cannae take it, Jim! 8)

Duuuuude! 8) 8)

Where did you find a photographer whose work is as incredibly nice as your pistol is beautiful? I'm stunned at how gorgeous it all is.

Stan's workmanship is awesome as I had my mitts all over this bad-boy at the SHOT Show, but for the first time I can remember, a gun looks even better in pics than in person.

Get ready to be very busy Mr. Chen! :D :D

I feel like I'm just repeating what everyone else has already said, but that gun is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

The attention to detail and smooth feel in how it operated, when I got to see it at SHOT, were incredible.

As an avid fan/collector of .38 Super Colt's, I couldn't resist fondling it every chance that I had in the booth.

Great job Stan!!!!

Is Colt making a 38 Super now or is this originally a 45 converted to 38 super?

Yeah I've been staring at that one over at stan's still-in-construction website for a couple of weeks, wondering when the rest of you guys were going to catch on and start the usual round of drooling.

That is a magnificent pistol!!! Stan I think your preverbal 15 minutes of fame is going to run much longer than that, hopefully for at least another 40 or 50 years.

This one definitely stood out at SHOT. Told myself several times to grab it and check it out but every time I tried somebody else was already fondling it. This is one of those cases where the pic DO do it justice-- it looks awesome on the screen or in real life.

Outstanding pistol Stan. How long did it take you to get all the finger prints and slobber off that gun? I know I had my share of grubby prints on it. Looking forward to some more information on that bad boy and the web site.
